I found that the video show many about Social Media. For my opinion, Social Media have been phenomenon and it's affecting our life and the lives of the people around us. This is because of a change of people though. For instead, on the video shown a group of town who loves ice cream. Let's say the ice cream is a media which everyone is on to media. At the town, there is a factory produce ice cream which there produce three type of flavour, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. What can I see here is that the three type of flavour ice cream is represent as a media such as :-
- Vanilla is Internet
- Chocolate is Music
- Strawberry is Movie
After so many flavour of ice cream people begin confuse about flavour. Suddently, came a man that introduce a chart which easily to divided into grouped. And then, the village have finally solve their problem which no more confusing flavour ice cream. This is also happen the same thing to our social media. After the people produce different type of media, it begin to spread. Unfortunately, it also confuse because of to much media that produce. So, the people begin to produce some kind of main group that will make it life easier. Such as Youtube, that can be the best way to choice because of it's good group like music, entertainment, documentary and other. Even Facebook, consider good with a perfect organization and it become the most best social network on the internet.
Somehow, it is depends on the people whether it will keep involve into a different type of social or not. Media is a comment thing in daily life it will never stop. It will change the world perspective of life no matter what. So, Have A Scoop Of Ice Cream. Thank You.
The article may consists a lot of grammatical error but I am totally agree with you. As u all know, social media has become an integral part of our live, no matter what we see, listen or eat, we would just simply surf the internet for reference or guidance. Even when we want to travel, we would just click on the most popular travel blog just to see which places are worth to pay a visit.
ReplyDeleteBased on my own account, I have seen using facebook as a tool to promote their products and advertise for their company. This isn't only help the newly-established companies save the cost for advertisement but also use it as a tool for communication to interact with their clients, asking for feedback or receiving comments on their products or services.
ReplyDeleteI am agree with you. Social media can be considered synonymous with ourselves and interdependent. Especially on today's everything to easy and fast if we are need information only a search of what we want to definitely obtained to easily. Even the government has also been using social media to enhance the aspects of the organization because there are 700 million people active in the social media at this time. The importance and impact of social media to all of us. Even acknowledged by the tourism minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ng Yen Yen at the event Picture Book entitled 'The launch of Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel: The Jewel in the Crown of Putrajaya.
ReplyDeleteThe majority of consumers more using the social media channels because the more effective and easier to just promote through facebook or blogger. Most of them are using the bloggers to promote their products so that the information can be delivered more easily or any inquiries more easy to answer but acknowledged their promotion through social media is easier for success. Approximately 70% of social media to help them the rest depends on their efforts to reach their goals. The possibility of traditional media to be reduced, but are still required.
ReplyDeleteI’m total agree with this discussion “Social Media" phenomenon is affecting our life”. In the world nowadays "social media” plays big role as an intermediate between the individual with the outside world, because people nowadays less use traditional media for get news, get any information, communication, entertainment or education. Furthermore, we can get all the information or anything in the internet with one click. For examples, we can watch movie or video in online TV or video-sharing website such as “YouTube”; we can communicate or share information with friends, businesses and everybody on the Internet, such as using "Facebook", "Skype", "Blog", “Website” and many more, at there we can get and share some information, chatting with friend, write comment, give feedback, promote the product or can get online education.
ReplyDeleteI am total agree with “Juztyn_1111111018”. “Facebook” become a great tool to promote their products and advertise for their company, because now become the current trends, everyone has a “Facebook”, and it simplifies the companies to exhibit their products, they do not have to use traditional media such as promotion through the flyers, it also saves cost of the company and save trees from destruction because the paper made from trees. The world can be saved with the social media.
ReplyDeleteyes i agree with you..Because of that, however, even social media can be used to sell ideas. For example, comments and rating is essential for a certain group to make an idea work.
ReplyDeletein my opinion,Social media itself is a catch-all term for sites that may provide radically different social actions. For instance, Twitter is a social site designed to let people share short messages or “updates” with others. Facebook, in contrast is a full-blown social networking site that allows for sharing updates, photos, joining events and a variety of other activities, thats my opinion..
ReplyDeleteyes i am agree with u IBtcam...just like ibtcam say the more effective and easier to just promote through facebook or blogger example it would be a website that doesn't just give you information, but interacts with you while giving you that information. This interaction can be as simple as asking for your comments or letting you vote on an article, or it can be as complex as Flixster recommending movies to you based on the ratings of other people with similar interests.
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of what you posted. You are right, Social Media is have been a phenomenon and is affecting our lives.
ReplyDelete"What I'm trying to say is that media can give a very big effect to everyone in our life. It is also effect to our social life this days. For example, people began to have different taste of music such as classic 90's, to slow rock,to hip hop, to RnB and many more. The reason is people begin to develop different type of genre media because social changes. Hip hop begin with a social of african american negro people and begin to spread. "
I agree with this. Through Social Media, people can use tools such as 'Youtube to spread such things and little by little it affects our taste in things such as music. In result, it affects our lives.
"After so many flavour of ice cream people begin confuse about flavour. Suddently, came a man that introduce a chart which easily to divided into grouped. I also agree with this by creating categories and groups, it creates an organization and helps people to find their way to places they wish to go. Facebook and Youtube are very good examples.
Although I disagree with your example for the media
"Vanilla is Internet". In my opinion, the Internet is not a media, it is a medium or a tool to create the media.
"Based on my own account, I have seen using facebook as a tool to promote their products and advertise for their company. I agree with Juztyn_1111111018 ,
People now can use Social Medias such as Facebook as a tool to promote ourselves.
Another good example is Behance, a website that not only promotes artists, but allows the artists to promote their own art and portfolio.
Some companies even used YouTube to promote their company and product.
Example : Vat19 advertised their product "World's Largest Gummy Bear" as well as many other products by posting extremely interesting advertising videos in YouTube
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RXmNRr8x7I&feature=player_embedded
And through that, sometimes even people who actually bought the products comment the video either how satisfied or disappointed they are with it.
And some even sent complaint and would receive a quick reply from the people from the company either how to solve it or details on how they will send the same product that is not broken. For free.
All in all, Social Media is improving and making our lives easier.

ReplyDeleteThe video posted by Faiz (Fazouk) entitled ‘Social Media in Plain English' beautifully explains visually how people developed media into massive usage and hence become the vital part our media mainstream.
ReplyDeleteIt is the human desire to enhance their ability to send/receive a message to another person and thus, with emergence of newspaper, radio, television and telephone, they were able to do so. Overtime, newer technologies lead to a change in the human behavior. Messages are feasible to be sent in a vast community and in a swifter amount of time. But people will still look for better ways to communicate using varieties of media. Media technologies and industries will also keep on growing in the future.
Advancement in media technologies has an effect on a culture. During an ancient time in England, there were two cultures known to date which the ‘Upper/High class’ culture (such as Duke’s Ball dance and Opera performances) and the ‘Folk/Lower class’ culture (such as Gypsy Puppeteer performances). Growth in media industries expands the horizon of both cultures to become more famous and now known as ‘Popular Culture’. It is hard to initiate the difference between the two cultures now. According to John Storey in his book – ‘Cultural Theory and Popular Culture’ explained six definition of ‘Popular Culture’. Among them is - "Pop culture is also defined as the culture that is ‘left over’ when we have decided what high culture is. “ In my opinions, high class cultures today are those who appeared in and reality television shows such as ‘Kim Kardashians’ and other Hollywood celebrities.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Miss Ibtcam at some point that traditional media should not be neglected. In Islamic perspective, according to a book – ‘7 Tipu Daya Syaitan Ke Atas Umat Islam’ by Kapten Hafiz Firdaus Abdullah. He stated from a hadith that “Whoever seeks knowledge without the teacher he sought knowledge with the devil ". This hadith emphasize the importance of having someone wiser to guide you. Not solely rely on media such as books and videos.
A book - ‘Introduction to Mass Communication’ by William Smith explains several theories of Mass Communication. One which shocked me was the ‘Cultural Imperialism Theory’!
“Cultural Imperialism Theory states that Western nations dominate the media around the world which in return has a powerful effect in THIRD WORLD CULTURES by imposing on them Western views and therefore DESTROYING their NATIVE CULTURES. “
A video showed by our lecturer, Miss Helena also confirms their role in abducting our minds.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ko_N4BcaIPY >
I also remembered a lecture by Mr. Abdul Halim that a sinister plan were plotted with the emergence of Globalization.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB52W2DWjxM
//note that this video is derived from years of research in Islamic Eschatology.
Hence, I agree with all of you that we should accept technology to be part of our life but we should also not put total dependence into it.
I agree with Ibtcam, the blog are the more effective to promote their products, because it the easy and the faster way to give information and feedback about the products, and it will be easier for the consumer. Social media it helping all people, just a blink of eye we can get anything in this world
ReplyDeleteI have another view, social media can help spread the Islamic religion, with "Facebook", "Blog" and soon, we can reach out to Muslims and we can give them something that they understand the Islamic way and leave the thing prohibited by ALLAH. Where Muslims now ignore religion, they are more concerned with worldly thing, which do not concern the claims of Islam, such as the business is not concerned with lawful or unlawful. With the Islamic product (Islamic way) in the "Social media" Muslims can get closer to ALLAH.
ReplyDelete“Cultural Imperialism Theory states that Western nations dominate the media around the world which in return has a powerful effect in THIRD WORLD CULTURES by imposing on them Western views and therefore DESTROYING their NATIVE CULTURES. “
ReplyDeleteThis is a good research by Al-Amin,on how far the effect of social media has spread.
For that quote, I would like to use Hollywood as an example for it. As you can see, with the advancement of technology and the convenience of social media at their peak, the Hollywood from
the US is constantly producing big budget movies with the purpose of making more money.
However, that could also be perceived in another meaning. They may have use their Hollywood products to expand their market but they could also be using them to brainwash our mind with the contents of their films.
As you can see, most of the films from the Hollywood contain their country's cultural values, sometimes consist of the american's heroic patriotism which is apparently hinting at us that their country is the only dominant force in the world.
Unfortunately, with their overwhelming sources and the ever pervasive marketing plan, their movies are "invading" all over the world. Especially the Third World Countries that are less educated in term of knowledge, they will be easily "contaminated" by the Hollywood products and brainwashed into supporting them as the dominant force.
This phenomenon is also occurring in Malaysia, where they are a lot of youth nowadays have forgotten about their roots and they are truly belongs to by choosing to embrace the western culture and fully adopting the western views and values.
This current trend has been destroying their own native culture. We can see that, the youth that still know about the tradition and custom of respective origin is getting lesser and lesser.
This is particularly true among the Chinese.
Have you seen any of them still clinging to their original custom of wearing red on the wedding ? Or going through the complex procedure of each traditional steps in order to get marry ?
The younger generation of the Malaysian has since opt for the more simple western style, wearing black and white and everything is minimize to it's simplest form.
In the end, what I am trying to say is, with the emergence of the ever pervasive social media, we are easily exposed to all kind of information, be it positive or negative, though it may affecting our lives but one should not forget about their origin and roots because this is how one should identify themselves with.
"Theory of Cultural Imperialism". This is an interesting discussion and good research by Al-Amin on how far the effect of social media has spread.
ReplyDeleteActually subtly without a we are aware western culture has influenced without a our totally aware through the cartoon, movie, commercial, comic and other we assume that all of entertainment but the fact remains their goal is to influence global media. Western media has a powerful effect in influencing the world media. i totally agree explanation from Juztyn.
